Internal brace surgery in August further prolonged his recovery, with an expected recovery time of eight to ten months.
The Dodgers designated Gonsolin for assignment in November, and he elected free agency. This move by the Royals, despite the recent setbacks, showcases their faith in Gonsolin's potential.
