Amidst the bittersweet moments, star forward Aliyah Boston emerged as a beacon of success and inspiration. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Boston shared her insights into why the 2025 campaign stood out as her favorite.
"When you look at it as a whole, it's hard to believe how special it was, especially with all the injuries," Boston reflected. "But it was the people in our locker room that made it so unique. The entire coaching staff created an exciting environment, even after losses. We focused on growth and improvement, and that's what kept me motivated."
Boston's enthusiasm carried over into the postseason, even though the Fever's playoff journey ended sooner than expected. "Making it to Game 5 of the semis was a growing experience for us individually," she explained. "It showed us that we could impact the game regardless of who was on the court."
The Secret Weapon: Fun and Friendship
When asked about the Fever's secret weapon, Boston revealed a simple yet powerful ingredient: fun. "It's all about the relationships and friendships we have with each other," she said. "Our communication and natural bond, both on and off the court, were key to our success. It helped us accomplish and showcase our best."
Offseason Plans and Future Goals
Currently in the offseason, Boston is keeping herself busy with Unrivaled, the 3v3 league co-founded by WNBA superstars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. Despite her commitments, Boston already has a clear vision for her WNBA campaign, whenever it may be.
"I want to continue expanding my game and becoming more consistent," she shared. "I don't want my performance to be dependent on certain possessions."
In the meantime, Boston is making the most of her time with Unrivaled, where she's the Phantom's second-leading scorer and leads the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks. Additionally, she continues to inspire young athletes through her work with The Court is Hers, an initiative aimed at increasing girls' participation in local Indiana basketball.
"Influencing the next generation is an opportunity I cherish," Boston said. "I'm still in awe of being at this level, but it's an incredible feeling."
